Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 2nd December – Aquamans Lament – Mark Aaron James

Oh Aquaman, he really is the last hero most people think of when it comes to the Justice League, despite the Jason Momoa movie!

This song is a lovely little ditty from Mark Aaron James, a nerdy rock performer from out of New York who makes some amazing and introspective nerd rock songs.

And yeah its a lot of fun cause its Aquaman wondering why isn’t loved as much as Batman!

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 1st December – Erection Tango – Eastend Cabaret

A risqué one to start us off this year, so much so in fact you can’t even have this song on YouTube cause its too rude!

Eastend Cabaret are a London based duo, and this song just makes me chuckle so much. Its on their 2015 album Perverts.

Look you really need to listen to this song, its just laugh out loud, just not when the bairns are around!!!

Musical Advent 2020 – December 24th – The Captain’s Wife’s Lament – Paul and Storm

Paul and Storm are huge favourites amongst the nerd community and this is a very very funny song, and perhaps a little NSFW.

I wasn’t sure how to end this particular advent series, I wanted to end with something funny and Megan’s reaction to this showed me that I had it right!

Musical Advent 2020 – December 23rd – An Awful Lot of Running – Chameleon Circuit

This is a choice by Megan, and its a bit of Timelord Rock by a band made up of Dr Who Youtubers, Chameleon Circuit.

Its kinda about the one thing that all of the Doctors companions need to do a lot of, running, and they really do an awful lot of running.

Musical Advent 2020 – December 22nd – Deadpool Christmas Rap – GameboyJones

Deadpool is a firm favourite superhero of pretty much every nerd, even though he hasn’t really been in the Marvel universe for very long at all.

And the Deadpool film staring Ryan Reynolds really brought the character into public focus, and frankly, who else could be Deadpool other than Mr Reynolds.

Also next year his model is coming out for Crisis Protocol and he looks AMAZING!!!

Musical Advent 2020 – December 21st – Why Does the Sun Really Shine? (The Sun is a Miasma of Incandescent Plasma) – They Might Be Giants

They Might Be Giants are a great example of a mainstream nerdy band, and this song is a follow-up of one of their earlier tracks for their kids album Here Comes Science.

Its only a short one, but very good at the same time, and like all the tracks on that album, is an educational song.

Musical Advent 2020 – December 20th – Tower of Souls – A Sound of Thunder

Sometimes you need a good concept album to really fire those neurons, and this song is from Tales from the Deadside a concept album from A Sound of Thunder.

Its based on the comic book series Shadowman by Valiant Comics, which is very cool and really ought to be read at some point in every nerds life.

This is an excellent track and honestly the vocals can shatter the whole world!

Musical Advent 2020 – December 19th – The Gumbo Song – The Cog Is Dead

We of course had to bring in some steampunk to this list if only to keep Paul happy.

So we will take a pretty iconic song from The Cog is Dead, featuring Professor Elemental who are pretty much the superstars of steampunk music.

Musical Advent 2020 – December 18th – Mario Kart – Aitch

OK this is one that might be stretching the definition of geek music, considering its a chart topping grime artist.

I was first exposed to this guy when Nandos did a live cooking show with him, and I discovered that he is actually a massive video game fan, and this particular track is pretty good, so yeah I decided to include this here.

Musical Advent 2020 – December 17th – Toss a Coin (To Your Witcher) – Mega Ran

Come on we all love Mega Ran, he is one of those nerdcore rappers so talented that pretty much everything he touches turns to gold.

And Toss a Coin (To Your Witcher) is no exception as he takes this pop culture phenomenon from earlier this year and turns it into a rap song that is just so so good!
