Resolutions Update – November 2021

I have also brought my painted tally up to 1105 models painted for the year.

Paint 2000 Points of Flesh-Eater Courts for Warhammer Age of Sigmar – Complete

The Abhorrent Ghoul King on a Royal Terrorgheist was my first painted model of the month and that completed this resolution.

Bring My Mechanicum to 3000 Points for Horus Heresy, Including The Warhound Titan – 75% Complete

This month I managed to find the Macrotek Enginseer, they were among a bunch of 40K Adeptus Mechanicus stuff.

Anyway they got built and painted leaving me with only the Warhound Titan to build, and given the trip for my brothers wedding and other issues, I cannot see myself being able to finish this 🙁

The Car Is Dead

Yep our beloved SEAT Alhambra has come to the end of its life, sadly the gearbox has gone and the replacement cost is just far too much.

So we are forced to scrap it altogether.

Now this has thrown a cat amongst the pigeons as we are due to go to my brothers wedding next week, in Cornwall.

So Megan is staying home, and looking after the cats and bunny, whilst me and Lindsay hire a car.

Its a bit annoying but it is what it is.

We don’t know when the new car will be ready but we are told May is the earliest, so we are likely going to have to buy another cheap car for now.

What Am I Modelling

It’s been a slow week, but the weekend was much better.

I painted up a Munitorium Armoured Container I got from Imperium.

And then I finished off a squad of Adeptus Custodes Wardens.

So how does that leave the list looking?

  1. Death Korps of Krieg Heavy Support Team x 3
  2. Ork Flash Gitz x 5
  3. Grand Army if the Republic BARC Speeder

What Am I Reading

Not a sausage 🙁

What Video Games Am I Playing

I have completed Halo 5: Guardians and am thus ready for Halo Infinites campaign when it arrives!

I also finished Far Cry, and that was a pretty good game, very very tough, but very good.

I am getting a game of Halo Infinite in each night, because the Xbox app gives me nearly 250 Microsoft Reward points each day!

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

Nowt 🙁

What Am I Creating

Just an Imperium Battle Report, which you can see below.

What I Am Backing

No new projects, but Rawr! Velociraptor! sent us a free bonus of live songs by The Doubleclicks!

What I Am Spending

Cyber Monday deals were good, so I picked up the Far Cry games that I don’t own, Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal.

And the Batman Humble Bundle deal looked awesome, I once owned Batman Arkham Asylum in Xbox 360, my brother in law borrowed it, and I never saw it again.

I already have Lego Batman 2 and Lego Batman 3, I have offered them to my nephews, but if they don’t want them, a friend is hunting some codes down for a charity thing.

And a couple of movies got bought too, digital copies of 300, Warewolves Within and Snowpiercer They were all on sale and I fancied having them in the collection to watch.

I also bought a camera bag for my Sony ZV-1 to take to the wedding.

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 6th December – The Middle – The Doubleclicks

Regular readers will know how much I love The Doubleclick, and well its no surprise I am featuring them in this years advent!

I also rather love that rock music of the late 90s/early 00s that I grew up with, so when The Doubleclicks covered it, well its been a staple of my playlists for a long time.

And the video for it is so very cute and delightful

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 5th December – Love is Basic – The PDX Broadsides

How about a nice little ditty by the PDX Broadsides, a wonderful nerd trio from Portland, surprisingly!

They make some great pop folk music about geek stuff and topics they love, like science and superheroes.

They are an eclectic bunch and that really comes across in their music!

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 4th December – Dead Boy’s Girlfriend – Hank Green

Two days in a row with something that has problematic stuff, not the song, not the artist, but what’s its based on.

I love Harry Potter, but I detest the author and frankly there are a ton of problematic issues with the books themselves from the anti-Semitism of the goblin bankers to the dreadful way characters from ethnic minorities are portrayed.

But this song is good, Hank Green is a fantastic podcaster, musician and science communicator with a passion for science that benefits the environment, his stuff is really well worth checking out, as he is an amazingly passionate creator.

But I have to make this point, trans rights are human rights, and JK Rowling is the queen of TERFs and the Harry Potter fanbase deserves better than her.

Instead of buying official Harry Potter merchandise, donate to Trans charities, buy knock offs or read some amazing fan fiction instead.

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 3rd December – It’s Good to Have Jayne on Your Side – Marian Call

Jayne, the man they call Jayne!

Most of us nerds are huge Firefly fans, and Jayne is absolutely a fan favourite, not so much the actor, he turned out to be an utter prick, as did the shows creator, but sigh, we still love the show for the rest of the cast.

Marian Call is a fantastic artist based in Juneau, Alaska (which prompts me to consider another song to add to this list, but that might slip into next year), and I love her music, its quirky, geeky and very cool.

And this song is about Jayne the cunning man of the Verse!

Warhammer 40,000 Imperium – Issue 7 Battle Report

The seventh part of the Warhammer 40,000 Imperium Battle Report Series.

In this episode, we see the Blood Ravens Assault Intercessors attempt to destroy some Necron Warriors before they reach their objective.

Who will prevail in this battle between the sinister Necrons and the noble warriors of the Imperium of Mankind.

You can support what I do by doing any of the following:-

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 2nd December – Aquamans Lament – Mark Aaron James

Oh Aquaman, he really is the last hero most people think of when it comes to the Justice League, despite the Jason Momoa movie!

This song is a lovely little ditty from Mark Aaron James, a nerdy rock performer from out of New York who makes some amazing and introspective nerd rock songs.

And yeah its a lot of fun cause its Aquaman wondering why isn’t loved as much as Batman!

Nerdy Musical Advent 2021 – 1st December – Erection Tango – Eastend Cabaret

A risqué one to start us off this year, so much so in fact you can’t even have this song on YouTube cause its too rude!

Eastend Cabaret are a London based duo, and this song just makes me chuckle so much. Its on their 2015 album Perverts.

Look you really need to listen to this song, its just laugh out loud, just not when the bairns are around!!!

Bumpy Couple of Weeks

This is a bumper two week update due to being generally unwell this past week.

Part of that is probably mental, the car is in the garage, so I am stuck at home, can’t even get to club for a game.

Hopefully the car will be back with us this week, but the repair got delayed by the big storm.

And the bunny is getting better, but it looks like the head tilt will be permanent, which means he will likely need anti-dizziness medication for life plus eye drops.

Tidying the PC

My PC was a mess, after reinstalling Windows I needed to desperately clean the desk and make it tidier and tackle the cable management, cause that was horrendous.

But a couple of days of pottering around, and it feels and looks a lot better, I still need to replace the desk in the long term and the secondary monitor is starting to show signs of dying.

What I Am Modelling

Not a lot at all this week!

I painted Obi-Wan Kenobi of the Grand Army of the Republic for Star Wars Legion, so yeah Hello There!

I then worked on two units of Skorpekh Destroyers and a trio of Necron Warriors.

After this I finished off my Blackstone Fortress models by painting the Archivist and the Ambull with its Borewyrm Infestations.

I then painted something that I can’t quite talk about yet, but it was a lot of fun to do and I am really looking forward to showing it off eventually.

I did print this Christmas decoration for our geeky tree, it was supposed to have an Enterprise D in the middle, but I ended up taking it out due to having to make it smaller to fit on my printer.

So what’s up next then?

  1. Adeptus Custodes Wardens x 5
  2. Death Korps of Krieg Heavy Bolter Team x 3
  3. Ork Flash Gitz x 5
  4. Grand Army of the Republic BARC Speeder
  5. Necron Warriors x 10 & Lord Hasmoteph the Resplendent
  6. Imperial Knight Warden
  7. Ork Bikes x 3
  8. Dacian Anvil
  9. Constantine Valdor
  10. Confederacy of Independent Systems B1 Battle

What Video Games Am I Playing

I have mostly been playing Halo 5: Guardians, so I can get caught up on the story before Halo Infinite hits.

I also played a bit of eFootball PES 2021 to get a GamePass quest completed, and boy do I still dislike football games, other than Football Manager.

I went back to Battle Sister, and damn that’s a hard game, the motion sickness for VR is a lot easier to handle now.

I enabled AirLink for the Quest, and untethering myself has absolutely helped a lot.

I tried Battlefield 2042, but I had to return it cause frankly it was a really poor game and just not worth the money.

Frankly Halo Infinite is a lot better and thus I played some more of that, even installing it on my PC.

To add variety to life, I played some Bioshock Infinite, and a bit of the original Far Cry!

Despite owning 5 of the 6 main series games, I have never actually completed a Far Cry before.

The first game stopped working on my PC at the time once I got the level 3, it just refused to load.

And I never picked it up again, but I have now and even made it possible to use an Xbox Controller which is making it a lot more fun.

It’s weird how different it is from the rest of the series.

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

On Saturday, Paul and Mary came over so we played some games. We started with The Sock Game, me and Mary were on a team together and won that.

Then they played Pandemic whilst I napped, I then rejoined them and we played Ticket to Ride: Amsterdam, followed by Unspeakable Words: Deluxe Edition.

On Sunday we played a couple of games of the amazing Just One, followed by a game of Ticket to Ride 10th Anniversary which Paul won!

What I Am Creating

Not much but I did attempt to test the streaming setup and of course despite the microphone allegedly working in OBS, it in reality wasn’t 🙁

What I Am Spending

More than I intend this week to be honest.

I bought Kainan’s Reapers for Warhammer Underworlds, which is kind of dangerous because I really like the look of the Bonereapers as an army.

Followed by having to grab a couple of TP-Link Kasa plugs to replace the Nooie plugs that won’t work with Home Assistant or IFTTT.

And I bought these back in the summer, but they only just turned up now.

I did buy a couple of bits of DLC this week for video games. The Aquatics Species Pack for Stellaris, the T’au, Assault Pack and Lord of Skulls for Warhammer 40,000 Gladius.

The Black Friday Steam sale happened, so I picked up Portal and Portal 2 very cheap, never played them before and figured why not try them, cost less than £3 for both of them.

And as I no longer have a DVD drive in my PC I picked up Far Cry and Far Cry 2, as I quite fancy playing them, alongside a dirt cheap copy of Splinter Cell, cause my original Xbox disk is scratched to hell

Oh and I saw a 4k Blu Ray of Star Trek Beyond for £5 on Amazon, so I bought that!
