As many of you know, I am a diagnosed AuDHD person and one of the things that benefits me, is a visual list of what I need to do, but well, paper isn’t working and we have been looking for a more techy solution for a while.

We were looking at a screen just showing a .txt file for my to do list, and I spoke to Paul about it on Friday, but thinking, hey someone must have done this before, so I googled it and found a few things that would do the job.

I saw the MagicMirror 2 software, but it just wasn’t going to work due to the issues adding modules, needing to be done via terminal and I just don’t have the spoons for it right now.

So instead we are going with DAKboard, which isn’t open source and less customisable, but does the job really well.

Initially I was going to use a TV we had lying around, but well, there was an accident 🙁

So I turned to the old monitor I used for my second screen, and well, its not as good, but its done ok.

So I downloaded the DAKboard software and installed it to the SD card, after a few false starts due to the issues with a counterfeit card I got from Amazon.

I then had to wire up some new extension cables to power it, plus move a set of sockets from behind the bookcase to use with the hoover!

But inserted into my Raspberry Pi and it worked like a dream!

Had to order some specific length cables for the monitor power and the Micro HDMI to DVI needs, but now they are in, it looks a lot cleaner and is perfect for our use case

If this works, we will be buying a touchscreen screen better in the year to allow for dismissing of tasks on the DAKboard interface directly

In the meantime, this has the local weather, our calendars, and both the household and my to do list!

Here is hoping it does the job!

What I Am Modelling

Most was building stuff, but I did get a few things painted, starting with some Thermic Plasma Conduits for Zone Mortalis

And some random stuff, plus a set of Alcomite Stacks for the board too

I also finally painted the Arbite Arbitratror from the Model of the Month a while back.

And some Hobgrot Slittaz were painted too

And Dryca Hamadreth was painted too!

And after that it was a set of Arco-Flaggents for my Sisters

Plus some Sisters Repentia

Then came a Dark Angels Intercessor Squad

Followed by a Dark Angels Ancient

For the Blood Angels, I got a Squad of Eliminators painted

Plus Radukar the Wolf which I got with Stormbringer

And an Assassins from the Cities of Sigmar, also from Stormbringer

So whats up next?

I have been listening to The Infinite and the Divine by Robert Rath.

And before that is was The Twilight Kingdom by Will Shindler.

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

Got a few league games in, the first was against Matthews Space Marines, which was a loss, but not so bad that I felt outmatched

Then I took on George’s Tyranids, and yeah that was a bloodbath for me!

I was also able to get in a game of Heresy against Paul, and was able to try out Knights in Heresy for the first time in 2.0

What Video Games I Am Playing

Got a couple of sessions of Assassins’s Creed IV: Black Flag in on Stream

I am also playing Final Fantasy II on my Steam Deck, which is a very different game to the first one I played a few months ago

What I Am Backing

I backed a 3D Printing project, the Sci-Fi Outpost – PAY WHAT YOU WANT, which has now completed its funding cycle, and will hopefully soon deliver me some cool STLs!

What I Am Spending

I bought the Sisters of Silence I need for the first Custodes Combat Patrol, along with some paints

And a new microphone to help with Battle Reports, now that they have to be done on Lindsay’s MacBook

And Leon bought a fourth Kroot launch box, so I bought the Codex and Data Cards off him for the T’au

And I bought a few games too for my PC, these were:-

We got rabbits, they are adopted from a rescue and so far are acting cute, but I know they are up to something.

I am sure these little gits are planning trouble, just know it!

They are brothers and are named Pippin and Angron Eater of Cables, and yeah, they are gonna be little shits!

Ok to be fair they are hella cute and when they snuggle up and cuddle it’s heckin adorable, but still, they are up to something!

What I Am Modelling

I painted up a squad of Templar Brethren and their Land Raider Proteus transport.

The Land Raider was finished first.

Followed by the Tenplar Brethern thenselves.

After that I painted up the Hobgrot Slittaz for my Orruk Warclans army, really hoping these guys might see use in a Chaos Dwarves army one day!

The Leagues of Votann Kâhl & Einhyr Champion have got to wait a little bit as I need a specific shade, and I am topping up paint in the 6th.

So I then moved on and painted The Crimson Court.!

I got the Lieutenants for the Ultramarines on the painting desk now!

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

On Sunday evening I played a game of Carcassonne: Winter Edition, I came second, Megan played her usual excellent field game!

Started on Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection again to get that completed, streaming it as planned.

Goldeneye 007 finally hit Gamepass on Friday and of course it’s now downloaded to both the Series S and Series X!

Had a quick play on Friday and oh my it’s good!

What I am Creating

We published the very first episode of Edge of Empire for 2023 on Saturday!

And on Monday, I published the first Battle Report of 2023, a match up between the Ultramarines and the T’au Empire.

What I Am Winning

I won a copy of The Jumping Muffin Turbo on Thursday!

And a book I won arrived, not my cup of tea, but will go in the Christmas present box.

And I won a copy of The Bat Quiz too.

And I won Woodle Tree 2 Deluxe on Saturday!

I also won a Bunch of Butts, not sure where from but, it’s gonna be something to give away next Christmas.

Had to replace my Vortex mixer as the one I bought in October just died, so Amazon replaced it with the same one.

October is on my mind a lot, why, because I turn 40, I will officially be old.

And I want to commemorate the occasion, it I can decide what to do. I have a few ideas, but I can’t decide on what to do.

I first considered a LAN party, but I suspect that won’t work cause my house ain’t that big downstairs.

Then I considered hiring a hall and just having some games of Warhammer, but then Lindsay and Megan wouldn’t take part.

Or just throwing another geeks disco as I did for my 30th.

This requires planning and I am just not sure what to do, I really want to do something fun to mark it with my friends.

If Battle Bunker were still around I would have hired that out, but alas right now it’s not.

Maybe I should enquire at the community centre next door to my house.

What I Am Modelling

I started the week by painting a squad of Orruk Brutes alongside Bawla and Burk.

The main give brutes got finished first on Friday night.

And then I finished Bawla & Burke on Saturday.

After that I turned my attention to two sets of STC Ryza-Patten Ruins I had lying about, these are needed for Company of Legends.

I have two tables of terrain which are mostly Sector Mechanicum, and they lack line of sight blocking terrain. So adding a set of STC Ryza-Pattern Ruins to each of them, along with a Haemotrope Reactor each will, I hope, resolve this.

I painted them in a very simple scheme, just kinda assumed the Mechanicum painted everything red and went from there.

I then painted a Soulblight Gravelords Mortis Engine which I got with Mortal Realms.

I also managed at long last to get the air brush out and get the base coats on the T’au I have outstanding, a few Blood Angels and Fafnir Rann.

I am currently working on some floor tiles for Zone Mortalis.

Mostly I have been concentrating of Far Cry 2 in an effort to finish it, which I managed on Saturday evening.

And I finished Unpacking on Saturday night as well.

I started on Far Cry 3 on Saturday night and I have to say, it’s a marked improvement on its predecessor.

What I Am Creating

The next battle report for Imperium has been published, this is for issue 16.

Issue 17 and 18 have both been filmed and edited and await their publication date on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

No live projects, but the dividers for the Griefcase from Gloomier arrived at last!

What I Am Spending

I bought myself an Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 with my Microsoft Rewards points!

I exchanged my points for £140 worth of Microsoft vouchers and put another £4.99 towards it.

And it arrived on Wednesday!

To fit it’s charging dock on my desk, I had to sacrifice my original Stream Deck, there was just no longer any room on the desk.

So I have now payed it forward and sent it to my friend Jessica.

A more practical purchase for me and Megan was a new mattress, we got it from Nectar as we had a 45% off voucher, but after signing up to their website, I have been sent a silly number of vouchers for 45% so I highly doubt anyone pays that price.

On the recommendation of RandomFrankP on his Cool Tech Under $50 I grabbed this Tripod/Selfie stick to use with my ZV1 for better vlogging ability, cause holding it at arms length is crap.

I also got a couple of cheap RGB Zigbee bulbs for the kitchen, as this is where I film my battle reports, I need a better white light and these fit the bill perfectly.

This means the existing smart bulbs there are moving to the downstairs loo and the en-suite to await the motion sensors becoming available for Hue again.

I also picked up some floor tiles for Zone Mortalis and a few paints this week.
