Happy 2022

Welcome to 2022, the year I turn 40 🙁

Well we did not do much for the celebration, we had Paul and Mary over, played some games and watched Jools Holland.

Resolutions wise, I published an article the other day, but beyond modelling I will be streaming twice weekly and will maintain that as best I can.

And I also plan to play 60 board games this year and read 35 books!

If you are daft enough to want to watch me, I will be streaming the following times.

  • Monday 8pm to 12 Midnight (GMT) – Painting
  • Thursday 8pm to 12 Midnight (GMT) – Video Games, starting with Assassins Creed

Another live streamed thing is in the works and may start this week!

What I Am Modelling

Most of the week was taken up building models, and I have gotten myself quite far ahead of where I wanted to be.

I have built my Corpse Grinder Christ’s, Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Breachers and a Crisis Suit Team for the T’au, everything from Kill Team Octarius, the Imperial Navy stuff from Wings of Vengeance, my remaining AdMech as well as a few other bits and bobs.

I did start painting on New Years Day an Ork Weirdboy to see in 2022.

And then painted the Templates from Kill Team.

This was followed by a Primaris Lieutenant with Storm Shield.

And some Endless Spells for Age of Sigmar.

So what’s up next week?

What I Am Reading

I finished a the Gates of Thelgrim and a review should be published tomorrow.

I have now started at long last on Warhawk and I really enjoying the book, it’s very well crafted thus far.

What Video Games Am I Playing

Mostly just Halo: Infinite where I can, usually one or two games of the multiplayer a night.

Also played Forza Horizon 5 for the first time in a few weeks.

Also been enjoying playing a bit of Donut County which is quite enjoyable and stress relieving.

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

On New Years Eve we played some board games, a couple of games of Star Trek: The Next Generation Fluxx, won by Lindsay and Megan, then a game of Colt Super Express which I won, a game of Maki Stack which was won by the team of Lindsay, Paul & Mary.

And finally a game of The Sock Game which the team of me and Megan won

Today Megan and Lindsay’s friend Chrissy came round and we played a game of Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu which we won on the very last turn!

What I Am Backing

CoraQuest arrived, and I am really looking forward to playing it!

What I Am Buying

I bought myself Beat Saber for the Quest 2, to give me some more fitness games to try out in VR.

I also grabbed Driver: Parallel Lines, I actually did some play testing in this game, but never got round to buying it as I was too busy with San Andreas at the time, and it was £1.68, so why not!

I also caved and bought Star Trek: Away Team and I was gifted a copy of Valheim.

In the New Years sale on the Microsoft store, I did pick up some films Top Gun, Rocketman and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.

Resolutions for 2022

Well this year I did an amazing 1184 miniatures and I loved painting most of them.

But it’s time to plan for the new year, so what have I got in mind to paint for 2022.

Paint My Primaris Ultramarines Army for Warhammer 40,000

This is a project that’s been in the works for a while, most of it’s built.

But I want to paint an all Primaris Ultramarines 4th Company army.

In the box right now is the Marines from Dark Imperium, Indomitus & Shadowspear along with a few other kits mostly obtained via Conquest/Imperium

It’s a long list but I want to get it done.

Paint A 2000 Orruk Warclans Army for Warhammer Age of Sigmar

The basis of this army will be the Kruleboyz from Dominion, as well as the Ironjawz premium kit from Mortal Realms.

Gonna do a Big Waaagh Army, with a core of Kruleboyz and then an elite smattering of Ironjawz.

Paint Two Gangs For Carnivale

Really simple, gonna get painted a gang for The Guild and one for the Rashaar mostly based on the two starter set gangs but with a few little additions if I can get them.

Paint All The Models For Silver Tower & Shadows Over Hammerhall

Again simple, but these two games have been sitting on the pile of potential for far far too long.

Paint The Warhound Titan

This is left over from last year but I am determined to get it done!!!

It’s Christmas!!!

Well Christmas has come and gone and it was really nice!

Prior to the big day, my VideoGameGeek Secret Santa was fucking amazing and bought me the entire Half-Life series on Steam, including Half-Life Alyx!

Christmas Day we went to my sister in laws for dinner with Megans parents.

But in general it was a really really good day.

And I am super happy with my Christmas presents for everyone.

Our traditional Christmas Day breakfast was however delayed to Boxing Day and it was amazing!

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday!

I however did not so much have one, I am going through a really stressful period and have developed a number of abscesses including one on my ear canal.

I have been in hospital for them and am now on bed rest, pain killers and antibiotics.

What I Am Modelling

I started the week by painting the B1 Battledroids for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

This was followed by painting the big man himself, Constantine Valdor for the Legio Custodes.

After that I painted some Skitarii Vanguard for my Mars army.

After that I finished up my Commissars for the Death Korps of Krieg.

What Video Games Am I Playing

I played though the Burial at Sea Episode 1 DLC for BioShock Infinite, the video of which is now on YouTube.

I am playing through Halo Infinite a little bit each day, and I am rather enjoying it.

Also doing some multiplayer each day to build up the levels and get me some Microsoft Reward points.

I am also continuing to play through Far Cry 2, but it’s a frustrating game.

What I Am Creating

I uploaded the Burial at Sea Episode 1 playthough.

What I Am Backing

No new projects, but both CoraQuest and Gloomier have now dispatched

What I Am Spending

I bought myself the Quest VR Bundle for Fanatical, which for the £12.91 I paid was pretty good.

Gave me 8 decent games, and helped fill out my Oculus Quest library.

I also bought Street Fighter V Champion Edition, it’s been on my radar for a while and TopCashback had extra cash back for CDKeys, so I figured, why not.

I also grabbed a couple bits of DLC, specifically Mollog’s Mob for Warhammer Underworlds Online and the Craftworld Aeldari pack for Gladius.

I also bought some movies, I bought the Matrix Trilogy in UHD using a gift card Microsoft randomly gave me, and I also bought The Phantom Menace on 4K Blu Ray.

SΔMMUS is a rapper, who on the surface, sounds quite mainstream, you could easily mistake her for a muggle rapper.

But come on, look at the her name, and then listen to her music, yeah she is one of us!

But lets not undersell her, she has mainstream connections as well, her brother is part of Gym Class Heroes, and she cites influences as diverse as Weezer and Kayne West

And as for herself, wow, what a woman, she has a PhD in Science and Technology from Cornell, I mean that’s impressive.

What I love about her music though, is the way she blends nerd topics, with African beats, and stuff that’s quite ordinary. I absolutely love that she makes music which celebrates blackness and her interests without pigeonholing herself whatsoever!

We return to The PDX Broadsides whom I featured back on the 5th, and this is a nice little song about shipping.

Shipping is a fandom term for Relationshipping in which is the desire by the fandom to see specific people enter a romantic, or perhaps even just a sexual relationship.

And lets face it we have all done some shipping, and why not, sometimes characters will just work, hence why its often done in fan fiction

Lindsay is a fan of a specific form of shipping called slash!

If you know me, then you know I am a massive massive Trekkie, I mean my earliest memory is watching Space Seed on a black and white TV in my parents sitting room in a block of flats while playing with my A-Team van as Paul cried because he wanted the van off me!

Anyway, I cannot even say how much I absolutely love Star Trek, and I don’t care which series it is, even the rubbish episodes have something for them.

So of course I love any kind of Star Trek music, and Warp 11 are some of my favourites.

Yet there are still people who never watch Star Trek and I find that super weird!
