Some Minor Studio Upgrades

Following the insulation work I have made a few small changes to the studio, mostly cosmetic, but they do make it far more comfortable.

First up, I have moved my collection of badges to a set of banners that Megan made for me in the polycule sewing room.

Really happy with how these turned out, and they fill a bit of a hole in the room.

I also hung a Man Cave sign that Mary got me before she passed away, and it looks pretty nice.

And I took the fabric Avatar world map we got with the Avatar Legends Kickstarter, and put that into a frame and hung it on the staircase

I also ordered a 3D printed stand for my Echo Dot to hang on my pegboard, its been a bit of a chew on to get it, and when I eventually did two weeks after it should have come, it was in entirely the wrong colour!

Next steps are going to be something to store the hot chocolate pods in, and a couple more Ikea controller holders for the pegboard.

And of course I do need to do some painting still!

What I Am Modelling

I started off my finishing the Ork Boyz

Plus a Runtherd for some Grots

And then followed up that with a pair of Marshcrawlla Sloghoths

Then some more greenskins, this time in the shape of 10 Grots!

I finally painted the Lord Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos, good old Kyria Draxus!

And then a Sister Dialogues for my Sisters of Battle

What I Am Reading

I read a few short stories to try and get me reading again, starting with The Long and Hungry Road by Adrian Tchaikovsky, then Devilhunter by Nicholas Wolf and finally Blood Harvest by Richard Swan.

I have now started on The End and The Death Volume II by Dan Abnett.

What Video Games I Am Playing

Continued to play some more Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, and I am getting to grips with the ways its different to the previous 3 games.

I published the latest episode of Edge of Empire!

What I Am Backing

My first project in a while, but I am backing the Car Wars Companion for Sixth Edition, cause, you know, Car Wars!

What I Am Spending

Not much, but I did buy The Ancestor’s Wrath, cause why not, new Votann models are gonna be cool!

We also upgrade our broadband, from 350mbps to 1130mbps, for only a few quid a month more!

A Big Bunch of Stuff

This is a big update, life has been a bit all over the place and its taken this long to sort out putting out a new blog post, sorry

My dad turned 60 earlier this month so we buggered off to Suffolk for a birthday meal, we were in the county for less than 24 hours which felt too brief as I was unable to get any quality time.

Would have liked to have spent more time with the nibblings, but it was nice nonetheless.

It was a Sunday dinner at the pub and I had lamb, cause I love lamb and so rarely get to have it.

I turned 41 as well, which was fine, but my birthday plans failed and it’s left me somewhat deflated.

I am on the verge of giving up any attempt at celebrating it from now.

I did get a pair of AirPod Pros for my birthday, mostly cause I needed the ANC

This weekend I went to Stirling for a Horus Heresy event runs by some friends of ours, an event with lots of Conpany of Legends DNA, which is really cool cause we never get to play in our own event!

That’s not me saying they ripped us off, we love that they have taken our concept and turned it into their own thing, it’s absolutely brilliant, although we did provide them with Chris’s scoring/pairing spreadsheet.

I am gonna put up a vide with my list next week.

It’s been a really fun event, my first game was against Matts Whit Scars, a beautiful army that I was able to really push and give it a hard time.

The game went rather well for me, I did lose in the end, but it largely came down to a mixture of great tactics by Matt, poor decision making on my part and of course rolling double 1s on Plasma Pistol Chainfire on my Moritat resulting in him dying in his first turn out of the Rhino!

The second game on Saturday was against Chris’s Custodes, and yeah at 3.5k points, Custodes really get to shine as they can take a lot of the nicer toys that 3k kind of stops them taking

I got hammered in this game, my list just struggled to handle the sheer amount of 2+ Armour

Wonderful guy as well and a beautifully painted army, makes me want to get my Custodes out the box!

On Sunday I faced Mark and his Ultramarines, in a very challenging game, for a good part of the game, I was dominant on one flank, distracting him with stuff on the other, but once he had taken care of those units, he quickly wiped out my whole army!

And my final game was against Michael and his Space Wolves, a great army with a Thunderhawk, my first time facing one of those bad boys!

I did okay, but eventually folded and was tabled, a mix of poor choices on my part and great tactics on Michaels.

A great weekend and the lads put on an amazing event, really good, absolutely loved my time there.

Insullationgate

Not my name, but it seems apt, on my return Stirling, we were having some insulation work done by the landlord, the contractors said, it was all external, but when they arrived, we were told its actually all internal!

So we had a chaotic week, with every room in the house being torn apart, and it ended my #HobbyStreak 🙁

It is what it is, but we are only just getting the place back together, and it still needs painting.

In other news, I am back into therapy and mental health treatment, I need it, and the waiting period was awful.

Initially my medication has been adjusted as they build an idea on how to help sort me out.

What I Am Modelling

I started off painting some Blood Angels but got bored partway though so got painted up my Questoris Knight Styrix for House Taranis

Then I finished the Phobos Lieutenant for the Blood Angels

Followed by the Suppressors

And the a squad of Infiltrators

After that a Ballistus Dreadnought for the Blood Ravens

As a result of the insulation, I found a DOOM box of abandoned Warhammer projects and decided to finish as many of them as I could, starting with a resin Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun, who mostly just needed a few bits and bobs finishing

Then it was a Praetor for the Death Guard armed with a Thunder Hammer!

Then I finished up some Marines that Chris gave me ages ago to supplement my Word Bearers who needed a couple of Marines per Squad to allow me to take them as Tactical Squads instead of Veteran Squads and allow me to build some non Pride of the Legion lists

And then some Tyranid Warriors that I originally got with Deathstorm, a very very long time ago!

And finally I painted a squad of Assault Terminators for my Ultramarines from the DOOM box

What I Am Reading

I finished The Prisoner of Tartarus bu Richard Lee Byers, so expect a review of that soonish!

I also read The Devouring Void by Danie Ware, which was ok, the twist was kind of sudden which didn’t work for me, but otherwise was good.

Audiobook wise, I listened to Blood of the Emperor, and The Sandman by Simon A Forward, and I am currently listening to The Church and the Crown by Cavan Scott and Mark Wright

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

I got a game of Sone Mortalis in with Paul at Durham Raiders

I did ok, my list is suboptimal, Paul’s is much better and he played really well, very smart choice made by him.

But it was a close run thing!

And we also had a game of Alhambra, on my birthday which I did not win, of course Megan did.

But it was close!

What Video Games I Am Playing

I have started on Assassin’s Creed III Remastered and been doing so on stream.

I also played and completed Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines, emulated using Retroarch, and I uploaded the playthrough to YouTube

Other than that, I finished Bayonetta.

I did finally get round to making that Ork Skin video!

What I Am Spending

I bought this Neo Geo CD controller made by 8BitDo a month ago and it’s only just arrived, the best thing about, MICROSWITCHES!

So yeah 8BitDo got right what SNK couldn’t

I also had a couple of bits printed up for my controller board, some black hooks to hang cables and a shelf, to hold a few little bits.

I also finally bought a new monitor for the studio, I just really needed some more screen real-estate for editing Edge of Empire podcasts, cause the setup I had was a bit weird in composition.

Its a Cooler Master GA271 and is really good for the £130 I paid for it, and I mean, really good, far better than it has any right to be, with some HDR and FreeSync too.

I Wish the Weather Would Make Its Mind Up

Its consistently hot, I am spending most of my time sweating hard!

In my studio its really hard due to being in an attic with a ton of tech and the weather keeps raining hard, so I can’t even have the window open to relive myself with some fresh air and have to have two fans on all the time!

I can’t wait for the coolness of autumn!

What I Am Modelling

I started off with a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun for my Ork, really lovely model to stand beside my resin one.

And I also painted up a Deffkilla Wartrike for the Orks as well, a really really fun model!

Followed by a trip of Canoptek Wraiths for the Necrons

And a Hexmark Destroyer for them too

After that I moved onto a T’au Stealth Team for my Tau Sept army

After that I finished off some Firestrike Servo Turrets for the Ultramarines which have been sitting on my desk for a while.

And finally I finished some more Gutrippas for the Oruuks!

What I Am Reading

I finished The Martyrs Tomb by Marc Collins, which was a fun story, felt a bit disconnected from the rest of the series, but still good.

I then listened to Spare Parts by Marc Platt, a fantastic Doctor Who audio drama about the genesis of the Cybermen, and is one the best stories that Big Finish have done.

I am slowly making my way through Secrets in Scarlet, slowly but surely.

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

I played Blood Bowl on Saturday, against Black Orcs, and yeah, I lost, and lost a couple of players 🙁

What Video Games I Am Playing

Back to Control Ultimate, and I started on The Foundation!

But this is the last gameplay I will have as a crash corrupted my save and there is no way to recover it 🙁

So I am done with it for the foreseeable future.

I Did as a result start on Assassin’s Creed Revelations on Monday.

I also finished Disney’s Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, the last boss was fiendishly difficult, but it was a fun little game overall.

2023 Charity Painting Marathon

As with most years recently, other than 2023, I am going to paint this weekend for 24 hours,this time to try and paint a Drukhari Combat Patrol in 24 hours!

I am aiming to raise £100 for the Willow Foundation, a charity that’s very very close to my heart.

I am going to be painting this weekend from 10pm on Friday night to 10pm Saturday night, so it would be great if you could drop by and hang out, and if you believe in the cause, drop a few quid in.

The Willow Foundation is an amazing charity that does special days for very ill young people, and made my friend Lees last days very happy, and his family and friends continue to raise money for the charity with LeeStock, an amazing festival in Suffolk.

But let me let the Willow Foundation tell their story in their own words.

At Willow we believe in quality of life and quality of time. Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. This year we hope to fulfil 1,400 Special Days – a day to anticipate, to share and to remember when happy memories really do count. Sadly for some, it’s a last chance to fulfil a dream with the people that really matter. Thankfully for many more their Special Day is an important opportunity to put much-needed normality back into living.

I started off by painting the Catacomb Command Barge for the Necrons

I am still reading Sisters of Sorcery by Marsheila Rockwell, but plan to get that finished in the next day or so.

I finished listening to The Helwinter Gate by Chris Wraight, got to admit the trilogy started off rough, but was absolutely phenomenal by the end, I hope to hear more from the pack in the future!

I am planning on starting listening to Leviathan by Darius Hinks next and reading Compromised by Thomas Parrott.

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

I played a game of Horus Heresy on Friday, and weirdly I won!

It was against Russell’s Alpha Legion, and to be honest, I think taking Fafnir Rann and Sigismund in the same list may be a bit overkill!

And on Saturday I played a game of Blood Bowl for the league with my Skaven vs Shambling Undead, and the result

I took a lot of injuries in the game, like 4 players got taken out of the match in the end!

At one point I had only one players on the field!

What Video Games I Am Playing

Mostly The Witcher 3, I finished Hearts of Stone in it and am now working on Blood and Wine.

What I Am Creating

The latest episode of Edge of Empire has landed, both in audio and on YouTube!

What I Am Winning

Won a prize on Twitter, a new Western Digital 1TB M.2 NVME SSD, along with a Genshin Impact mousemat and a muscular bunny who looks a bit like my bunny Angron, Eater of Cables!

What I Am Backing

Still backing the GameFound project for the Firefly: The Game 10th Anniversary Edition, with the Veteran Pilots pledge level.

I am also backing the Jon Hodgson Backgrounds Book campaign, but undecided if I want to go with the Sci-Fi book or the original book, very torn on that one!

What I Am Spending

Bought a few more video games, i continued rounding out the Resident Evil series with Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil Revelations.

I completed the Wolfenstein series with Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Wolfenstein Cyberpilot.

Avengers was a bargain on Steam and I really want to play the single player campaign, so I picked that up, alongside 80s Overdrive, Garbage, F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin and F.E.A.R 3 and Necromunda: Underhive Wars.

I did buy some extra Termagants to bulk out some existing units to bring them up to 20 gribbly units!

And of course I picked up Leviathan from Gamers-at-Hart on Saturday!

One of Those Weeks

Well it’s been one of those weeks!

Not only have I spent most of it unwell with a nasty tummy bug, but the flat has turned up a few issues.

We were in the process of having a water damaged cabinet replaced, when it was discovered that due to some missing airbricks, there were some geet big holes in the wall letting in moisture!

So we are having to have the plaster removed, get airbricks put and, so a damp treatment and then replaster.

Anyway, due to a shortage of available tradesman, it’s gonna be after Christmas before it can actually get done so that’s annoying, as it was the cabinet with the kitchen sink in it!

Ah well, life does love to throw some curveballs at you!

What I Modelling

I started by finishing off a pair of Necron Tomb Blades.

After that I painted up the Nickar Class Hunter-Killers for my Scourge, which meant I got the airbrush out for the first time since we moved.

And then moved onto a Space Wolves Praetor, not sure I will ever do them in 30K, but I had to model so, why not paint it.

After that I painted up some Blood Angels Assault Intercessors.

And a mob of Ork Nobz

I am now currently working on an Imperial Fists Tactical Squad.

I am not entirely sure who this was from, it just came with a plain white piece of paper saying “congratulations on your win”, but I won a black Playstation 5 DualSense controller, which is brilliant.

So this is gonna get used for PC games that work best with DualSense, and the white one I was using will go to Megan.

What I Am Buying

Keeping an eye of eBay I came across a very cheap copy of Guardian of the Galaxy for PS5, so I bought that!

I also got a few more holders for my controllers, and now the PC Engine, CD32, Xbox 360 and 8 Bit Do SN30 are all up on the wall now.

I bought Witcher 3 GOTY Edition, cause the next gen updates for PC look incredible!

I already own it on Xbox, but this looks well worth it!

Speaking of the Xbox I grabbed a dust cover attachment for the Series X to allow me to hang the controllers off it.

Company of Legends March 2022

The past weekend it was Company of Legends, our twice yearly Horus Heresy Residential weekend that Edge of Empire run.

It was fun but exhausting, and I love doing it.

We managed to pull it off successfully, i always worry that I am less organised than I need to be, but Graham and Chris as usual were amazing.

My first game was against Rob on Friday night, and his Mechanicum, which I lost, was in fact tabled.

My next game was the first main game of the day which I played against Ozzie and his Emperors Children and Mechanicum, I lost that but at least wasn’t my tabled!

My third game of the weekend saw me face Mark Frost and his daemons at long last, allowing him to claim the grand slam of beating all four Edge of Empire hosts with the army.

But I held my own ok I think.

My final game of the weekend saw me face off against Henry and his Emperors Childrens allied with Imperial Milita.

That was my most successful game, I did alright, but losing a couple of knights to an Assault Squad with Melts Bombs cost me the game.

The traitors won the weekend, probably because I was playing for the loyalists.

It was an awesome weekend and I cannot wait for September.

What I Am Modelling

With Company of Legends, not a lot got done!

I did have a build session on Tuesday night and got a bunch of terrain for my 15th table built. This is stuff from the Charadon which is going to supplement the Imperium terrain to make a full tables worth.

I then finished painting my Space Marine Primaris Supressors to add to the Ultramarines army.

At the same time I painted up some Thermo-Pipes.

And after that started work on an Ork Kommandoes Kill Team.

And I painted a Thermo-Exchanger Shrine at the same time, also for the Imperium box.

At the same time, I painted up some referees for Blood Bowl.

And late last night I finished off a Deredeo Dreadnought I bought at Ardhammer in January, although I think the guns are recasts, the actual Dreadnought seems fine, but the guns are just not quite right.

I am gonna keep it, I only paid £10 for it, but I need to keep a closer eye on things I buy at secondhand sales.

I am kinda thinking the first something else will be a Horus Heresy very small Zone Mortalis game.

I did manage to pick up Watchmen: Ultimate Cut in 4K from the Microsoft Store for £3.99 which is awesome!

Also when at the North East Model Centre on Thursday, I bought another Painting Handle!

My Nana

My beloved nana, a woman who has been so influential in my life passed away after a long illness last week.

Its left me in a bit of a state even though it was long expected.

She was always there for her grandchildren and anything we could have done for her was never enough.

She lead an interesting life, from her time as an evacuee, an army career, beating the crap out of terrorists (I wish I was joking about that one), time as a social worker and bringing up five children on her own after my grandfather abandoned her.

She was a tough geordie battleaxe and whilst not a perfect woman, she was always there for me when I needed her.

Her funeral is next month and I am just trying to get through until then, but the grief over losing her is kinda hard to deal with.

Nana, I will miss you, and I will make sure to make my tea the way you taught me!

What I Am Modelling

I started the week by painting the Vertus Praetors and a Captain on a Dawneagle Jetbike for my Custodes.

And these mark the last models overall for my Custodes in both 30k and 40k, I currently have no more to paint at all 🙁

After that it was on to some Ork Flashgitz, which were a lot of fun to paint!

I then moved on to paint a unit of Skitarii Rangers for my Adeptus Mechanicus army, which gives me two squads of them overall.

I then painted up some Primaris Space Wolves, a pair of Battle Leaders, a Rune Priest and some Aggressors.

I am now working on some Assault Intercessors for my Blood Ravens.

What Video Games Am I Playing

I have been playing a bit of Forza Horizon 5.

I started Assassins Creed with a 5 hour stream, and managed to eliminate two of the targets!

And on Saturday morning, quite early I had an impromptu session cause I missed Thursday with being grief stricken still.

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

I had a game of Horus Heresy with Graham, and I scored my third win against him ever, by two points, one of which was Slay The Warlord.

Was a very fun game, I suspect that the Death Guard are my favourite Heresy army overall, I just like their grittiness!

What Am I Creating

Well I returned to video game streaming and managed to stream 5 hours of Assassins Creed which you can see above.

I have started a new YouTube series, Wargamer News, you can see the pilot here, and will start regular episodes from this week.

What I Am Backing

Gloomier arrived!

Although the Griefcase was missing the dividers, I contacted Atlas Games and they say that they are in the post!

What I Am Spending

I bought myself the PC Building Simulator Humble Bundle, cause it’s a fun game!

I also picked up a new light box after mine died just before Christmas

And I got a paint restock from Element Games, along with dice and cards for my Nurgle Blood Bowl team!

Welcome to 2022, the year I turn 40 🙁

Well we did not do much for the celebration, we had Paul and Mary over, played some games and watched Jools Holland.

Resolutions wise, I published an article the other day, but beyond modelling I will be streaming twice weekly and will maintain that as best I can.

And I also plan to play 60 board games this year and read 35 books!

If you are daft enough to want to watch me, I will be streaming the following times.

  • Monday 8pm to 12 Midnight (GMT) – Painting
  • Thursday 8pm to 12 Midnight (GMT) – Video Games, starting with Assassins Creed

Another live streamed thing is in the works and may start this week!

What I Am Modelling

Most of the week was taken up building models, and I have gotten myself quite far ahead of where I wanted to be.

I have built my Corpse Grinder Christ’s, Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Breachers and a Crisis Suit Team for the T’au, everything from Kill Team Octarius, the Imperial Navy stuff from Wings of Vengeance, my remaining AdMech as well as a few other bits and bobs.

I did start painting on New Years Day an Ork Weirdboy to see in 2022.

And then painted the Templates from Kill Team.

This was followed by a Primaris Lieutenant with Storm Shield.

And some Endless Spells for Age of Sigmar.

What I Am Reading

I finished a the Gates of Thelgrim and a review should be published tomorrow.

I have now started at long last on Warhawk and I really enjoying the book, it’s very well crafted thus far.

What Video Games Am I Playing

Mostly just Halo: Infinite where I can, usually one or two games of the multiplayer a night.

Also played Forza Horizon 5 for the first time in a few weeks.

Also been enjoying playing a bit of Donut County which is quite enjoyable and stress relieving.

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

On New Years Eve we played some board games, a couple of games of Star Trek: The Next Generation Fluxx, won by Lindsay and Megan, then a game of Colt Super Express which I won, a game of Maki Stack which was won by the team of Lindsay, Paul & Mary.

And finally a game of The Sock Game which the team of me and Megan won

Today Megan and Lindsay’s friend Chrissy came round and we played a game of Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu which we won on the very last turn!

What I Am Backing

CoraQuest arrived, and I am really looking forward to playing it!

What I Am Buying

I bought myself Beat Saber for the Quest 2, to give me some more fitness games to try out in VR.

I also grabbed Driver: Parallel Lines, I actually did some play testing in this game, but never got round to buying it as I was too busy with San Andreas at the time, and it was £1.68, so why not!

I also caved and bought Star Trek: Away Team and I was gifted a copy of Valheim.

In the New Years sale on the Microsoft store, I did pick up some films Top Gun, Rocketman and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.

Paramount Sucks

So today we got the news that Paramount has decided to pull Star Trek Discovery from Netflix and force the UK to wait until early 2022 to get season 4.

Well that just sucks balls and I am gonna be clear, I am not gonna wait, I will pirate it, why, because USians can’t help but spoil stuff.

Was the same with series 1 of The Mandalorian, so yeah, so will pirate it, and I will make it clear that this policy makes me extremely unlikely to subscribe to Paramount+ at all and I will pirate subsequent shows.

The golden era of streaming has ended as the market fragments as every company wants a piece of the pie.

But well, I need to dust off my pirate hat once again.

Home Assistant

Today I took the old Core 2 Duo that was originally going to be used as a NAS until we discovered that the PC can’t run FreeNAS and I installed Home Assistant on it, running on a virtual machine in Debian.

It’s gonna be a lot of work to configure, but I look forward to the challenge.

Windows Reinstall

I have had to reinstall Windows 11 on my main PC, I wanted to move away from the Dev Channel as I now need stability, but that necessitated a full reinstall, not a huge deal but it’s done now.

Got the PC more or less back to what I want it to be.

What Am I Modelling

I started the week off by painting a Shokkjump Dragsta for my Orks.

I had found my Macrotek Enginseer amongst a load of 40K Adeptus Mechanicus stuff, so I got them built and painted next.

After which I turned my attention to Sigmar finest, Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear & the Celestant Prime.

I got them more or less finished at the same time, but they are such important models I felt they deserved their own posts on Instagram.

I ended up painting them in the traditional Hammers of Sigmar colours, because I really want them to stand out on the tabletop and also stand apart from my Celestial Vindicators, because that’s how important their roles in the army is.

I then started work on Obi-Wan Kenobi for my Grand Army of the Republic force for Star Wars Legions.

Not a thing, but I did listen to the audiobook of Dominion which was quite good, really good plot and lots of cool action.

But of a mix, mostly Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5.

I did finish Halo 4 and have now started on Halo 5 Guardians.

Also Halo Infinite launched so I have a bit of a play in that.

I put up the latest battle report for Imperium and that’s about it.

Not a sausage, but I have now confirmed the pledge manager for Avatar: Legends and the shipping and add on costs for Orlog were taken.

For Orlog I ended up adding on the glow in the dark dice, the Valhalla dice set and the linen mat.

What Am I Cooking

Sadly not a thing, I need to change that.

Not a lot as very much broke.

I did purchase the Festival DLC for Tropico 6 from the Humble Store, and Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force on GOG

Bad Sleep

Recently, I am so buggered up with Insomnia.

I am following the advice the doctor gave me, so no being in bed unless it’s for sleep, staying up until I am actually tired, no caffeine after 4pm (I am actually quite bad at that one) e and getting up at a set time etc.

The biggest issue I am having is that I love reading in bed, it’s my safe space to read and it’s where I feel most comfortable reading, so my reading has plunged to a record low.

But I am struggling to be asleep before 4am and it’s making my days awful, even when I am so tired I just can’t get to sleep.

I don’t want to end up on sleeping tablets, so I am doing my best to avoid that, but something has to give.

What I Am Modelling

I started the week by painting two units of Stromcast Eternals Judicators armed with Skybolt Bows.

This actually completes all the Stormcast Eternals I have right now, other than Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear, and the Celestant Prime should also be delivered and day now.

I then painted some Orks, specifically five Nobz, a Painboy, Warboss, Gorzag Gitatompa and Nikkit.

After that I painted an infantry squad for the Death Korps of Krieg.

And whilst painting those, I also knocked out the Spindle Drones and Guardian Drones for Blackstone Fortress, which actually completes the original games and the Ascension expansion.

What I Am Reading

I finished The Dark Avengers: Patriot List by David Guymer, the review for which you can read here.

I have now started on the Zombiecide novel, Last Resort by Josh Reynolds and should have a review if this amazing book out by Thursday.

What Video Games Am I Playing

I did my play through of the 8-Bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog, and posted that up on YouTube.

Decided to continue with doing a retro play through and I am currently playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Master System using Retroarch.

Started that late Monday night, with very frequent saves. I had intended to play a level a night but due to a shitty sleep cycle, I only got a chance ti play again on Friday night.

I also started streaming again, and had a very early morning Bioshock Infinite stream on Thursday, which was uploaded to YouTube on Friday.

I have got the old PC that used to belong to Geoff set up to run some old games via emulation, it is however a lot lot older than we thought it was and the GPU is not the GTX 750 that Geoff was told it was, but rather a GT210, which is significantly worse.

I have also played a little bit of Back 4 Blood, which has been rather enjoyable, and I am continuing to play Halo Reach.

What Tabletop Games Am I Playing

Sadly none, but I am playing Adeptus Titanicus tonight with Graham for an Intro game!

What Am I Creating

As in a previous section I posted the video of my 8-Bit Sonic the Hedgehog play through and the sequels play through.

In regards to the YouTube stuff, I made it to 75 subscribers on Monday, which is amazing cause I was on like 30 something a few months ago, and at time of writing, I am now at 88 subscribers which is mind blowing!

I am not trying to become some kind of popular content creator, I just feel like there is stuff I want to do for my own enjoyment. I have zero interest in appeasing the algorithm, I just want to make content that I personally want to see myself.

So my current focus is on the battle reports in the casual narrative style, and retro video game playthroughs. And any Twitch video game playthroughs will get added to that as well.

Sadly Munchkin Mayhem was cancelled, so right now I am not backing anything.

What I Am Cooking

Not a good week, other than beans on toast, nowt.

What I Am Spending

I feel like I am finally in a place where I can restore this section of the blog, but I may not share any hauls quite as frequently.

This week was subdued in terms of spending initially, I bought myself the Play Pink Bundle on Humble Bundle, I had most of what’s in the bundle, but what I didn’t have saved me plenty of money still.

And Steam Codes for most other stuff is being given to friends, who don’t have them.

I also bought a couple of video games in addition to the bundle.

I bought Far Cry 6, well I got it dirt cheap from a friend who works at Ubisoft. I also grabbed Alan Wake Remastered with a voucher for the Epic Games Store and the Premium Add-Ons Bundle for Forza Horizon 5.

I also kinda spent some money on a Raspberry Pi kit, I am enjoying old games and I want to add a emulation machine in the den, that’s easily transported around. Along with a USB Bluetooth dongle so I can link the DualShock 3 Controllers to it.
