I Wish My Sleep Would Return To Normal

The second bout of Covid has really messed up my sleep, when I want/need to be awake, I am sleepy, when I want to be asleep, I am wide awake, and no matter what I do I am really struggling to return my day/night cycle to normal.

Tonight I am gonna stay awake until bed time on Wednesday again, to try and shock my system back into a normal pattern.

I have tried it already but it didn’t work, but lets give it another go.

What I Am Modelling

I finished off my Blood Warriors for the Blades of Khorne army, which I think finished off all the mortal units I have for the army.

I also painted up a Kataphron Breacher that I got from my Forbidden Planet Imperium order.

I then had a weekend cat sitting for my sister in law so I took a few models to build, specifically the heroes from Shadows Under Hammerhall, which I built on Saturday night.

On Sunday I built the next two models, a Black Ark Fleetmaster and a Loremaster.

When I got home, I finished up the work on the Auto-Choral Transmitter for my Imperium table.

And on Monday I built the Chaos Sorcerer for Shadows Over Hammerhal.

What I Am Reading

I actually picked up a book!

I have started to read Splinter Cell: Firewall by James Swallow.

What Video Games I Am Playing

I have been making great progress through the campaign for Halo Infinite, mostly working on the side missions like killing the High Value Targets, FOBs etc.

I had an ad hoc session on Sunday night Ti test some improvements I have made to the setup to improve quality of the recording and I hope this looks better!

What Tabletop Games I Am Playing

On Sunday me and Megan played a game of Assassins Creed Valhalla Orlog, which of course Megan won.

Its a lovely game and the mat makes it very immersive.

I published the 27th Imperium Battle Report.

What I Am Backing

My First Kickstarter project in some time is Ravage by the Cybertronic Spree!

What I Am Spending

My Stadia Controller arrived. It was awful it stank to high heaven of cigarettes, I mean the guy I bought it off must be a very heavy smoker, and honestly, that’s something that I cannot stand the smell off.

When I opened a return he became abusive to the point where eBay stepped in, suspended his account and refunded me right away.

But a different one I bought did turn up, along with a Chromecast Ultra for mine and Megan’s bedroom TV.

I did buy an Adeptus Soriatias Codex and Datacards to allow me to run that army again, it’s an army I have a great love for and need to expand to 2000pts from the current 500 or so points.

I did pick up a hair drier, I need one for working with resin and Lindsay complains when I pinch hers from our bedroom, so this means I have one in the studio, which I am sure Lindsay will use when she needs it.

Still Very Tired

The last week has been dominated still by sleep issues so not much to say, but I have an appointment with a doctor on Monday about it.

What I Am Modelling

I started off by painting the Abhorrent Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist for my Flesh-Eater Courts.

This now completes that army to 2000 points and completes my resolution for 2021 for Age of Sigmar.

I then built models to ensure my next 20 projects were ready to go and I got that lot finished on Saturday night.

Annoyingly I had to 3D print a couple of bits for this, first off I managed to lose the back of a head for a B1 Bartledroid for Star Wars Legion, so I basically printed off a droids head to harvest the back of it.

And when building an Imperial Knight, I got a miscast part, luckily it was a part that’s very commonly available as an STL because it allows you to magnetise a weapon, so i printed that and now my Warden has a choice of either the chainsword or the fist!

I then painted up a bust that I printed last month of a Death Korps of Krieg Infantryman.

I am currently working on a Shokkjump Dragsta for the Orks, the buggy is finished, just working on the crew now.

Not a sausage, sleep problems are making it a real issue.

What Video Games Am I Playing

A little bit of Forza Horizon 4 started the week to get me in the mood for 5!

I also decided it’s time to use my Oculus Quest seriously, and I got it up and running with my PC properly, playing some Project Cars and Star Wars Squadrons.

I also played Sonic the Hedgehog for the Mega Drive for a play through video which uploaded yesterday.

Of course with Forza Horizon 5 landing on Friday, I played an awful lot of that!

What I Tabletop Games Am I Playing

Me and Megan had a game of The Sock Game on Monday, she wasn’t well and it kinda cheered her up before lunch.

Despite her being ill, of course she still won!

Also played a game of Nature Fluxx which I surprisingly won!

What Am I Creating

I got the latest battle report uploaded in Friday night, but annoyingly there were some sound issues.

The next episode of Edge of Empire is almost finished and should be out tomorrow.

And I put up my play though of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive up on YouTube.

What I Am Backing

Not a thing right now, nowt has taken my interest.

What I Am Cooking

I made some pulled pork on Sunday which was quite nice, must make that again soon.

What I Am Spending

Not much, but did buy some new glasses which I pick up tomorrow.

Rough Sleep

I have had a very very rough week of sleep, it’s getting pretty bad, so bad that I have now been perceived sleeping tablets.

I was also quite ill this weekend as well, which probably hasn’t helped, but I am feeling a lot better now.

So tonight I start a four day regime of sleeping pills and sleep tracking to try and get me back on track.

As much as I am a night owl, it’s getting a bit daft, waking up at 1pm and not sleeping until 5am is just not good for living with other people.

I also must make sure to use my CPAP machine every night as well. So let’s see how this goes.

What I Am Modelling

It’s been a slow slow week, mostly due to a touch of illness.

What I did do is get myself prepared for the next twenty projects by building and priming it all, plus the Indomitus stuff for my Blood Ravens.

I did get finished the floors for my Zone Mortalis Terrain, both the actual Zone Mortalis Floors and the Sector Mechanicus Floors.

I did get around to starting on the T’au Barracuda AX-5-2, which was a real pleasure to paint.

I ordered it the day of release, and built and primed it as soon as I got it, but it’s been a kind of intimidating model for me, but I am so glad I got it done at long last.

At the same time I painted the Barracudas and Tiger Sharks for Aeronautica Imperialis.

I then actually began work on The Grymwatch because to start on the Intercessors I first need to put in a base coat using the airbrush and when I was ready to, it was late at night and the girls would kill me!

I got those finished Sunday night/Monday morning and am pretty happy with them.

I was able to airbrush on the red base coat of all of my outstanding Blood Ravens on Sunday night, which is good as it means I can crack on with them as soon as possible.

This allowed me to stray work on a unit of Intercessors and a unit of Inceptors, I have gotten the two main armour colours on, and washed it.

I finished reading The Last Ritual, which was a hell of a ride, you can read my review here.

I am planing to start another book tomorrow, and it’s another book for review.

I didn’t play any tabletop games again this week. We were scheduled to play Star Trek Adventures, but Chris, our GM was ill.

I did play four hours on the Witcher which was streamed and you can watch below.

Not backing anything right now as money is way too tight 🙁

I didn’t actually get any cooking done this week, sadly I have just had too rough a week with sleep.

Not Enough Sleep

Struggled to get to sleep last night, ended up not sleeping at all. Not sure what it is that’s got me lacking the ability to sleep, but it’s been the same the past few nights, and it’s meaning I sleep in far too late in the mornings. I got a quick two hours in this morning and was up and about by 10am, not that I would say I was functional, but a sugar free caffeine drink saw me through.

Sometimes I think half the issues I have are because of all the medication I am taking, I mean here is a photo of my pills for the week, and it’s no wonder I rattle when I walk.

This week I did take delivery of Grifters and Coup G:54 Anarchy, two games I backed on Kickstarter from Indie Boards and Games. Now I am going to admit, I have an intense dislike of Travis, the man behind the company, he is rude, arrogant and treats his backers like they are an inconvenience, especially when they catch him out in a lie. That said, his last two cycles have been vastly improved and games have been delivered with minimal of fuss. Hoping to get both of these on the table as soon as I can, and hope they aren’t added to the list of perpetually unplayed games.

What I am Modelling

Got my Word Bearers Contemptor Dreadnought with Twin-Linked Volkite Culverins finished, and I must say I am rather proud of the model, this is that standard I hope to go forward with for the Word Bearers. Let’s just hope I can keep it up.

What I am Reading

Got a few more chapters of Praetorian of Dorn read and I am enjoying it so far. Still reading Facebook and Twitter too much instead of a book though.

What I am Playing

Stupidly still noting, it’s like I keep wanting to play, but then I don’t. It’s something I need to deal with because it’s really damaging my mental health, games really engage my brain and not having a job means that my brain does need challenges. It doesn’t help that Megan hasn’t been so good in the days, nor that we are currently running up to Newcastle every night to make my nana her tea, but I desperately need to play something, even if it’s only a small game of Fluxx. Perhaps I will try and convince Lindsay and Megan to go to Newcastle Gamers this Saturday after we see my nana.

What I am Backing

Right now I am backing, in addition to Cognition #1 and One Night Ultimate Alien, Luke Slotts Year of the Nightingale, a Bahá’í inspired album of music celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh. Now I know many of my friends don’t put much stock in religion, and that’s perfectly cool, you won’t hear me trying to twist your arm into believing, besides as a Bahá’í I am forbidden from the practice of proselytism, but I find the music of Bahá’í artists tends to be very soothing and lovely. Besides Luke is a lovely chap, when he played a performance at the Newcastle Bahá’í centre a few years ago he spent the night at my house and he was a brilliant and kind guest.

At this time the project has fully funded so I am looking forward to getting my digital copy of the album next year.

What I am Spending

It’s the run up to Christmas, so my spending has gone up, as I purchase a few presents here and there for Megan and Lindsay. I also treat myself to a Pop vinyl of Spyke from Munchkin, mostly for the card, but the character will look nice in my man cave. And I may have purchased the Kill Team box, but the Tau in it will not, I repeat not become the basis of a new Tau army!

Oh and I couldn’t resist a Squirtle Squad t-shirt from Qwertee.
